New team in New York

The New York branch office of Heidelberg University saw two changes of staff in 2019: The Heidelberg University Association, HAUS and HAI are delighted to introduce Amanda Rohm Daquila, the new Executive Director, and Melanie Grossmann, her new team member.

Amanda stepped into her new role as Executive Director taking over from Irmintraud "Jimmie" Jost. Amanda has a strong background in international education and nonprofit experience. She served as Senior Program Director at Cultural Vistas in New York City, an international educational nonprofit organization. She is very familiar with alumni work as she oversaw the founding and development of the Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange Alumni Association (CBYXAA) in her previous position during the last years. In early 2019, as part of the Wunderbar Together campaign, she organized the Transatlantic Alumni Conference in Washington, DC in close cooperation with the American Bundestag Network.

After 25 years in New York Jimmie has returned to Germany, having accepted a position with the city of Heidelberg to support the science organizations and community there. So HAI will stay in touch with Jimmie, now being an alumna of Heidelberg University herself, also in her new job position. Already in May Lisa Vitale left the New York office to fully concentrate on her translation business. We send our best wishes to Jimmie and Lisa for their successful future. Now being alumnae of Heidelberg University themselves we hope to stay in touch via the alumni network.

The work of Lisa is now in the hands of Melanie Grossmann. Melanie focused in her previous work on event management and corporate design. On both sides of the Atlantic she organized numerous activities and events for companies of all sizes in the technology, ecommerce & advertising industries. Moreover, she has substantial knowledge and experience in corporate presentation designing, website coordination as well as graphic design.

With their competences and experiences the two new colleagues are the perfect team to tackle the continuous extension and strengthening of HAUS and the Heidelberg University Association. We are looking forward to our cooperation and - also in the name of the Heidelberg alumni - cordially welcome Amanda and Melanie to the team.
