Happy Holiday Season!
We are celebrating the Season in New York at the private India House Club, One Hannover Square, New York, NY, 10004.
Excitingly, we were able to secure the Blue Bar exclusively for us. Come to sip a few nice drinks, enjoy lovely finger-food, catch up with old and new friends about Heidelberg, New York, 2009 and chat about your plans for 2010. I am delighted to let you know that we have now more than 130 HAUS members in the four state area (NY, NJ, CT and PA) and I think it would be wonderful if all of you could make it to the event. Feel free to bring your special friends along.
I am looking forward to seeing you soon

25-27 September 2009 - San Francisco
HAUS 2rd Annual National Meeting!
Heidelberg Alumni from across the US will come together for the 2nd annual national alumni meeting on the weekend of September 25 - 27, 2009 in San Francisco, California. Friends of Heidelberg University are cordially welcome. We will also invite alumni from Mexico and Canada to join the festivities. The weekend will be kicked off with a casual dinner on Friday night.
Saturday morning is reserved for the "business" part, the annual meeting of HAUS. We are looking for input from all HAUS members, especially regarding the future direction of the alumni organization, new regional chapters, and additional events. All ideas are welcome so come prepared to brainstorm. Since the boat tour around Manhattan was such a success at the inaugural meeting in 2008, we are planning to offer a sailing trip in San Francisco Bay on Saturday afternoon.
The main event of the weekend will be dinner on Saturday evening, providing alumni and friends plenty of opportunities for networking and sharing memories. The speaker of the evening will be a scientist form Heidelberg University, who will highlight recent research at the university. Sunday morning starting at 8:30 AM we are invited to an Election Party at the Goethe Institut to follow the German national election which takes place that day. The first results are expected for 9 AM Pacific Time/6 PM German Time.
Please keep in mind: HAUS membership will ensure a discounted rate for the weekend's events.

Saturday, 29 August 2009 - Long Island, NY
Summer Outing to the North Fork of Long Island
HAUS members Clark McCombe and Hannah Ortiz are graciously inviting their fellow Heidelberg Alumni to a fun summer outing to the North Fork of Long Island. We will start the day with a visit to Clark's Briermere Farm. The place is famous for their incredibly delicious pies. After a short hayride exploring the farm (dress accordingly) and a pie tasting, Hannah invites us to lunch on the porch of her Victorian House nearby. Afterwards we would follow the North Fork out East, stop at a winery or two, stroll through Greenport and return via Shelter Island and two short ferry rides back to New York and surrounding areas.
We hope to see you on August 29! Herzliche Grüße, Melanie Rolli & Irmintraud Jost

15 or 17 June 2009
Invitation to Alumni in and around Ohio
Greetings to all former Heidelbergers in and around Ohio. Dr. Al Fink and Kathleen Lance would like to meet with all who may have studied, taught at, done research at, or are simply friends of Heidelberg University, Germany. We would like to plan an informal get-together in Columbus on June 15th or in Cleveland/Akron on June 17th. Our goal is to introduce Heidelberg Alumni US and Heidelberg Alumni International to those who've not yet become acquainted with our Alumni Club. We want to describe the benefits of membership and invite all to join. And, certainly, we're looking forward to an opportunity to meet former students, classmates and others who may have been in the "Neckarstadt" while we were.
We look forward to hearing from you! Al Fink & Kathleen Lance

Regional chapter for the greater Chicago area
As many of you know, Heidelberg University founded an Alumni Chapter in the U.S. (HAUS) in October of 2008. One of the main goals for 2009 is to form regional chapters to make it easier for people to network, attend events and keep in touch with other former Heidelbergers. On February 11 we would like to get together with Heidelberg alumni and friends to kick off the regional chapter for the greater Chicago area. We would like to hear your ideas, your expectations and learn from your experiences and of course we would need some volunteers who would like to get involved and some who would like to head this regional chapter. Please join me and some enthusiastic alumni for the brainstorming meeting. We want to get to know each other and exchange some ideas.
We will meet at Berghoff, 17 West Adams Street, Chicago, IL 60606.
Kind regards, Irmintraud Jost
